INSPIRATIONAL MESSAGE OF

PDG AVELINO I RAZON JR
CHIEF, PNP

PURPOSE DRIVEN LIFE COORDINATOR’S SEMINAR
PNCO Club, Camp Crame, Quezon City

February 26, 2008

I am happy that we are taking another major step in our effort towards transformation through this Purpose Driven Life Coordinator’s Seminar.

Before anything else, let me thank the PCRG under the very able leadership of Chief Superintendent Rey Osia, and the Directorate for Human Resource and Doctrine Development under the very energetic Director Gerry Doria for continuing to seek ways to help our men and women in the police force find the light and walk the path towards moral and spiritual transformation.

I also wish to extend the deepest gratitude and appreciation of the entire police force to the Philippine Council of Evangelical Churches for its strong support to our transformation program and for providing the inspiration and encouragement to Mamang Pulis and Aleng Pulis to always place God at the center of their lives as they serve and protect the community.

More than the skills and firepower that we, in the PNP, possess in the performance of our duties, what counts above all is our spiritual and moral foundation which, to my mind, remains the most potent weapon that we, or anyone for that matter, can ever wield in the fight for justice and peace in our country.

This is why our PNP Integrated Transformation Program has, among its foremost concerns, the spiritual and moral transformation of our personnel. And this is why, we are striving hard to bring back to our streets and communities the ideal Mamang Pulis who is not only dependable or maaasahan, approachable or malalapitan, presentable or kaaya-ayang tingnan, and humane or makatao, but above all, God-fearing or maka-Diyos.

As law enforcers and protectors of the people, we are not only fighting for peace and security in the streets and communities, we are likewise striving hard to win the complete trust and confidence of the people that we have vowed to serve. And one way of effectively achieving this objective is by first showing them that every Mamang Pulis and Aleng Pulis also possesses the right moral and spiritual qualities expected of every public servant and police officer who is worthy of such trust and confidence.

As we always say, transformation should start from within every police personnel and it is this kind of transformation that we are trying to achieve through the continuous conduct of Purpose Driven Life Seminars. Needless to say, the reforms that we are trying to attain for the police force in terms of equipment, training, and service must be anchored on a firm spiritual and moral foundation shared by every member of the police force.

With this Purpose Driven Life Coordinator’s Seminar, we hope to further strengthen our efforts towards transformation as we move closer towards finally realizing our objective of a truly capable, effective and credible national police force.

It is my fervent hope that our participants or coordinators will emerge from this seminar more enlightened and better equipped to carry on our torch of transformation by way of helping instill in the hearts and minds of our police personnel the appropriate moral and spiritual values that will empower them towards better serving and protecting our country and people.

I congratulate the PCRG, the DHRDD, and the Philippine Council of Evangelical Churches for this initiative and I look forward to more purpose-driven activities in the months ahead.

Thank you and God bless us all!
